Boardwalk Empire is an American television series broadcast by HBO in 2010. It is located in Atlantic City, New Jersey, during the period of prohibition in the 20s. Starring Steve Buscemi, is partly based on the book Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City by Nelson Johnson, was adapted by Terence Winter, writer and producer of The Sopranos. One of the executive producers are Martin Scorsese, who also directed the pilot episode. The series premiered on September 19, 2010 in the U.S.. UU. "Nucky" Johnson, an influential politician of that city between 1911 and 1941), a prominent political figure controlling Atlantic City, New Jersey during the period of prohibition from 1920 to 1930. Nucky interacts with several historical figures in his personal and political life, including mobsters, politicians, government officials, etc. The government also is interested in smuggling and other illegal activities in that area, sending agents to investigate possible connections with the Mafia but also to see the luxurious and expensive Nucky lifestyle, political figure in the county.
